Connect a hosted speech or rewrite model using your own provider account.

Choose what the provider will do

You can mix these choices. For example, local transcription with hosted rewriting sends the resulting text to the rewrite provider, while keeping the audio transcription on your Mac.
Hosted providers use your own account and API access. Any provider usage charges are separate from your MicMyDay licence.
Connect transcription
- Open Settings → Engine and select your provider.
- Enter the API key from that provider account.
- Choose Use key and wait for validation.
- Select an available transcription model from the model list.
For OpenAI, selecting a transcription model applies the choice immediately.
Gemini uses Google AI Studio API key for transcription, with an in-app link to get a key. Use Refresh models to reload its available choices.
The model list shows supported options available through your provider account. Keep MicMyDay up to date for the latest supported models.
Connect rewriting
- Open Settings → Rewrite and enable rewriting.
- Choose Gemini API or OpenAI API under Which model rewrites it.
- Connect the key using Use key.
- Select a model and choose Use this model.
- Choose the profile you want to apply.
Use Change to reopen the provider choice. Switching providers does not remove saved credentials.
Gemini rewriting uses its own key, separate from its transcription key. OpenAI rewriting can reuse the transcription key if its own field is empty. You can manage both keys in their respective settings.
Connect your own server
Choose Custom for an OpenAI-compatible service on your Mac, your network, or the internet. Transcription and rewriting require different endpoints. Follow Custom endpoints for the fields and examples.
