Permissions
Allow the access each feature needs and resolve missing permission entries.
In the appSettings → Permissions
On this page
What each permission enables
| Permission | When you need it |
|---|---|
| Microphone | Required to record your voice, including voice activation. |
| Accessibility | Automatic pasting into another app. Without it, copy the result and paste with ⌘V. |
| Input Monitoring | A modifier-only main shortcut, such as Right Shift or Fn. Regular key combinations do not need it. |
| Speech Recognition | Apple Speech transcription. Downloaded Whisper, Parakeet, and Nemotron models do not need it. |
| Local Network | Connecting to a custom server on another device on your network, if macOS asks. |
Allow access
- Open Settings → Permissions in MicMyDay.
- Use the action beside a missing permission. Accept the macOS request or enable MicMyDay in the System Settings page that opens.
- For Accessibility, restart MicMyDay after granting access.
- Return to MicMyDay and choose Refresh status if needed.
You can find the permission lists yourself under System Settings → Privacy & Security. Local Network appears after an app tries to use your network; make a connection attempt to your custom server if there is no entry yet.
MicMyDay is not in the list
For Accessibility and Input Monitoring, MicMyDay can show a small floating helper with its app icon.
- Keep the relevant permission list open in System Settings.
- Drag the MicMyDay icon from the helper into the app list.
- Turn on the switch beside MicMyDay.
- Follow any restart instruction.
The helper adds the app to the list; you still need to turn its switch on.
Restart after Accessibility changes
Choose Restart MicMyDay when offered. If it does not reopen, quit MicMyDay from its menu-bar panel and launch it again from Applications. A running copy may not see the new Accessibility permission until it restarts.
To separate a shortcut problem from a microphone problem, try Start dictation in the panel. If that works, check Input Monitoring for a modifier-only shortcut or choose another combination.
Provider sharing choices
Permission to send a recording or transcript to an AI provider is separate from these macOS permissions. MicMyDay asks before sharing with a provider and remembers your choice.
Use Provider privacy → Reset sharing choices to be asked again. This does not revoke an API key or delete information already sent to a provider. See Privacy & your data.
